------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Formula to measure the general requirements for an e/pop server.

Here is the determination:

- 2.4 MB RAM when e/pop server is active.
- 150K per user connection.
- Approx 100 MB of data storage (minimum).

A single Pentium III 700 mhz server w/256 MB RAM will typically support up to 250 e/pop users.

In a lab test on a dual 1.4 GHz CPU processor computer with 1 gig of RAM running Windows 2000 Advance Server, the e/pop server was able to supported as many as 3000 connected users. This is the maximum number of users the e/pop server can support because of the limitation of the Windows operating system.

Note:
The 3000 user count per e/pop server, however, may not be practical in a real world situation because there are network conditions, like network latency and packet loss, that will affect this figure. To detemine the true number, customer should follow the steps laid out in the network evaluation document or not exceed 1500 users per e/pop server if the customer decides not to move forward with the network evaluation.
