SUMMARY
This technote covers the special command line switches for the e/pop client. These switches are used for various specialized purposes.

Switches
e/pop contains numerous command line switches to control specific features and startup options. These switches provide numerous specialized features.
  • The /BROADADDR+= parameter can easily add multiple broadcast subnets from the command line. When combined with the /FILE switch, administrators can use these commands to centralize a list of directed subnet addresses that can easily be managed.

  • The /UNLOAD parameter is useful when you need to insure that e/pop is unloaded before updating the EPOP.EXE from software deployment products.

  • The /FILE= switch imports multiple commands from one or more files instead of from the command line.
Usage: EPOP <option> <options...> (brackets indicate optional parameters. Omit the brackets when passing parameters on the command line.)

/SUPPRESS Prevents the display of protocol and network related error messages.  Useful for laptops while they are undocked.
/UNLOAD Unloads e/pop from memory.
/MESSAGE=<file> Used to send an e/pop message from a batch file or scheduler
/SERVER=<IP> Used in conjunction with /MESSAGE or desktop shortcuts to connect to an e/pop server by the IP address of an existing location.
/LOCATION=<name> Used in conjunction with /MESSAGE or desktop shortcuts to connect to an e/pop server by the name of an existing location.
/ACCOUNT=<account>

/PASSWORD=<password>

Used in conjunction with /MESSAGE or desktop shortcuts to connect to an e/pop server with an account & password.
/BROADCAST Use directed broadcasts for communications
/BROADADDR=<a.b.c.d> Add an IP broadcast subnet address
/BROADADDR+=<a.b.c.d> Add an IP broadcast subnet address
/BROADADDR-=<a.b.c.d> Remove an IP broadcast subnet address
/BROADADDRIPX=<a.b.c.d.e.f> Add an IPX broadcast subnet address
/BROADADDRIPX+=<a.b.c.d.e.f> Add an IPX broadcast subnet address
/BROADADDRIPX-=<a.b.c.d.e.f> Remove an IPX broadcast subnet address
/MULTICAST Use IGMP multicasting for communications
/MULTIADDR=<a.b.c.d> Select the multicast host address. Valid range is 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255.
/MULTITTL=7 Select the multicast time to live. Maximum number of subnets traversed.
/FILE=<filename> Imports command line switches from one or more files instead of standard command line.  Used when length of the command line exceeds 255 characters or for batch generated messages.
/TCP_RECONNECT=<seconds> Specify the maximum time in seconds used for e/pop client reconnections.  e/pop will randomly select a value between 1 and the number provided.  A value of zero forces e/pop clients to never reconnect once disconnected automatically.
/ACCOUNT=<account> Automatically logon using the account name
/PASSWORD=<password> Automatically logon using the password

NOTE: If your command line switches exceed 255 characters they will be ignored by Windows. In these cases you must use the /FILE= switch and place your switches into a flat text file.
