Users running under a Citrix MetaFrame environment
Summary
These technote covers the steps required to get Citrix Metaframe support for e/pop instant messaging and chat.
NOTE: The following technical brief assumes that the administrator is familiar with e/pop, the Control Panel application within e/pop, and has read and understood both the "Users Guide" and the "Administrative Guide" available for download.
Hardware
requirements
Pentium III
and above.
128 MB RAM
Minimum of
500 MB disk
space.
Software

Note: If
e/pop 3.x
client and
server are
to be
installed on
the same
Metaframe/Terminal
server
computer,
e/pop 3.x
client must
be installed
and
configured
first.

Install
e/pop 3.x
server.
1. Install
e/pop server
using the
Add/Remove
Programs
feature in
Windows.
2. Logon as
administrator
and run
essteup.exe
(not
esetup.exe)
from
WiredRed.com.
3. Click on
Next.
4. Specify
the
installation
location.
5. Click on
[Finish]
when the
installation
completes.
6. Reboot
the
Metaframe
server when
complete.

Install and
configure
e/pop client
to connect
to e/pop
server.
1. Logon as
administrator
and install
e/pop client
using the
Add/Remove
programs
feature.
Select
esetup.exe
from the
CD-ROM or
the file you
downloaded
from
WiredRed’s
website.
2. Click on
[Next].
3. Specify
the
installation
location and
click on
Next. Note:
If
installing
e/pop client
on Metaframe
/ Terminal
server,
WiredRed
recommends
installing
e/pop client
in a shared
folder.
4. When
installation
is complete,
continue
with the
connection
wizard. At
the end of
the
connection
wizard,
enter the IP
address for
your e/pop
server.
5. Click on
[Finish]
when
complete (Do
not start
e/pop)
6. Click on
[Start] >
‘Programs’ >
‘ePop’ >
ePop Control
Panel
7. After
e/pop
Control
Panel
starts,
click on
[File] >
Open e/pop
application.
8. Select
the main
e/pop
executable
and click on
[Open]
9. Click on
‘My Files’
and specify
the location
to store the
user’s My
Files. A
common place
is to use
the user’s
Profile
location.
Another
common place
is to
specify the
drive letter
which is a
mapped drive
to the
user’s home
directory.
10. Click on
‘My Files
(continued)’
and select
the first
option on
the right.
11. Next
click on
[Save] and
exit the
e/pop
Control
Panel.
12. Finally,
you can
start the
e/pop client
using any
one of the
options
below.
- The user's
personal
Start Up
folder.
- The All
Users Start
Up folder.
- The Windows
Login
Script.
- The 'Run'
key in the
Windows
registry.
