San Diego, California – January 21, 2005 – WiredRed, a
technology leader in enterprise real-time communications software, today
announced that it will immediately begin offering First Virtual Communications’
(NASDAQ: FVCC) customers that seek an alternative for their on-premise web and
video conferencing installations, a Migration Toolkit to e/pop Web Conferencing.
First Virtual offers rich media communications products and software development
kits (SDKs) for system integrators and Microsoft resellers to integrate real
time communications technology into their applications. FVC recently announced
that due to a rapidly deteriorating liquidity situation it indefinitely
furloughed all of its employees, including sales and support staff. On January
20th, the company further announced that it has filed for Bankruptcy. As a
result, WiredRed will immediately begin offering FVC customers a Migration
Toolkit to e/pop Web Conferencing software.
“e/pop Web Conferencing software is unique in several respects, it has no
pre-requisites other than an operating system and static IP address, installs in
five minutes, and has out-of-the box integration points for customer-premise PKI.
That, plus its XML interface – a multi-platform SDK – provides everything needed
for a fork-lift upgrade,” explained Tom Toperczer, WiredRed’s Vice President of
Marketing. “A basic replacement simply involves running our installation wizard,
adding your security cert, and a re-direct on any existing web conferencing
pages,” he added.
WiredRed’s e/pop Web Conferencing is the industry’s first on-premise web
conferencing solution that has no installation dependencies on third-party
databases, web servers or other server prerequisites. It includes a
comprehensive feature set that includes multi-party audio and synchronous video
conferencing, remote control, plus complete desktop, application/document
sharing and dynamic PowerPoint™ presentation sharing.
Browser-based e/pop Web Conferencing is a true, out-of-the box solution that can
be installed in approximately five minutes by a network or IT administrator.
Secure Socket Layer (SSL3) and Transport Layer Security (TLS), along with
integration points for on-premise Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), are standard
security features.
WiredRed also offers an XML-based software development kit (SDK) for its e/pop
Web Conferencing software. The interface can be used by integrators and
developers to build complete web conferencing solutions and integrate this
functionality into a variety of applications such as workflow, document and
content management, customer-facing CRM solutions, web portals, and ASP
offerings.
The ability to integrate fixed-price web conferencing software into business
applications allows organizations to leverage their existing network
investments, and completely eliminate the cost of expensive and difficult to
administer web conferencing services. In many cases, customers of traditional
web conferencing services are paying for the same bandwidth twice: once to their
ISP, and again at premium prices to their web conferencing services provider.
Paying twice is eliminated with on-premise solutions.
e/pop Web Conferencing Migration Toolkit
The e/pop Web Conferencing Migration Toolkit consists of an extended trial
license, documentation on the e/pop SDK, free training, and remote technical
assistance with trial software installation, re-direct page installation (to new
conferencing server), and proof-of-concept prototyping. The latter is intended
for existing FVC installations with integrated web and video applications that
seek to validate e/pop. The Toolkit includes customary limitations on trial
software and programming assistance.
