Florida Rock Deploys WiredRed’s e/pop for
Secure, Instant Communications across 160 Sites
Citrix Compatibility Key to Selection of e/pop for Company-wide IM
San Diego, California – June 22, 2004 – WiredRed®,
a technology leader in enterprise real-time communications software, today
announced that Florida Rock Industries Inc. (NYSE-FRK), one of the nation’s
leading producers of construction aggregates, ready mixed concrete and
concrete block, has chosen and deployed e/pop® for fast, secure and
efficient communications. The company, headquartered in Jacksonville,
Florida, is using e/pop across 160 sites located in the Southeastern and
Mid-Atlantic region for time-urgent, inter- and intra-office communications.
According to Roger Ferenbaugh, CIO at Florida Rock, e/pop was chosen because
of the product’s impressive IM, web meeting, and collaborative computing
functionality, and its clear commitment to security. Florida Rock utilizes a
Citrix® network to manage the company’s highly distributed network and
e/pop’s seamless ability to perform with the Citrix thin-client environment
was equally compelling.
“Florida Rock doesn’t allow private corporate information to be sent over
the public network. Rather than allowing our employees to use an un-secure
IM service, such as Yahoo, we decided to purchase e/pop because it provides
message encryption and also works within our firewall,” said Don Knight,
Manager IT Infrastructure. “Not only is e/pop secure, but it works on our
Citrix network and is extremely simple to use. Employees started using the
e/pop product on their own, even before we started the training effort. The
e/pop interface is very similar to that of email.”
Florida Rock is utilizing e/pop in the dispatch department as well as in
sales and administration for quick, effective and interactive
communications.
“e/pop allows our dispatch personnel in our operation offices to communicate
instantly about orders and shipments,” he explains. “Late shipments can cost
our customers money and tarnish our reputation for quality customer service.
By using real-time communication software, like e/pop, dispatch and other
company personnel can stay in touch about order changes, real-time order
tracking, delivery drop times and other critical distribution issues.”
Pricing
Pricing for e/pop secure instant messaging ranges from $15 to $40 per user.
Volume purchase discounts are available.
