San
Diego, California – April 23, 2007 – WiredRed®, a
technology leader in real-time communications software
and online services, today announced that e/pop® Web &
Video Conferencing 4.6 is now shipping. Version 4.6
includes support for Windows Vista™, multiprocessor
environments including Intel® Core™ 2 Duo, Core 2 Quad
and AMD dual processors, plus improved multiparty live
white-boarding and annotation. These improvements are
especially useful for customers in fields such as
engineering, architecture and construction, where
desktop sharing, document sharing, live annotation and
multiparty video are all running at the same time –
effectively duplicating a working, project review
meeting in an online environment.
Prior to e/pop version 4.6, many PC users running
Windows Vista were limited to view-only web
conferencing. With the new version of e/pop they can now
participate in sharing desktops, sending and receiving audio, video
and more in
fully-interactive online meetings. e/pop also supports
recent revisions to Internet Explorer 7, Firefox 2 and
proxy servers such as Squid and Microsoft ISA Server.
“Support for the latest operating systems, browsers, and
proxies is all part of the e/pop package,” said Steven
Peltier, WiredRed CEO. “Our goal is to maximize our
customers’ conference connection success rates and,
through processor utilization and bandwidth
optimization, deliver the most lifelike conference
experience over the Internet.”
e/pop is among the first video conferencing vendors to
support the latest operating system from Microsoft.
Windows Vista incorporated several changes in hardware
device handling and security, posing a challenge to many
software and peripheral device manufacturers. Support
for fully interactive web conferencing participants,
Windows Vista client PCs, multiprocessors, and deep
capabilities in firewall and proxy traversal are all
seen as further distancing the web and desktop video
conferencing leaders from others that provide limited
one-way streaming media and PowerPoint™ only solutions.
Price and Availability
e/pop Web Conferencing version 4.6 is available now. It
is priced starting at $3,000 (USD) for on-premise
software, and $350 for online services. Volume discounts
and site licenses are available.
