Chichester, England – February 6, 2006 --
WiredRed®, a technology leader in real-time
communications software, today announced that Digital
Media Interactive (DMI) is utilizing e/pop® Web
Conferencing as the core of its campaign to target the
growing online education market. A market leader in the
field of web conferencing software, WiredRed has
developed the application, e/pop, which enables tutors
to conduct online lectures and training sessions
anywhere, anytime via live, fully interactive web
collaboration, PC audio (VoIP), and multiparty video
conferencing sessions.
Based in the New Forest, DMI specializes in distance
learning and video conferencing solutions. DMI
recognized that e/pop could take distance learning
courses to the next level by not only improving learning
by providing students with a live on-screen tutor, but
through its vast abilities, enable the tutor to share
documents, programs and presentations. The student can
interact with both the teacher and other pupils with
voice, video and interactive whiteboards and text.
By installing e/pop Web Conferencing software within
college networks, DMI realised that the users could
offer a more diverse set of subjects irrespective of the
take-up among the students. This now allows schools to
offer a wider variety of subjects, whereas in the past
they would not be able to hire a full time specialist
teacher for a small number of students, saving the
colleges thousands of pounds. Students can participate
in online lectures carried out by tutors irrespective of
location with e/pop technology.
“e/pop is the next natural evolution of video
conferencing,” comments DMI Director Richard Lane. “The
software allows teachers to share not only
presentations, but desktops and documents as well –
ideal for when there is a need to discuss topics via
different applications. e/pop’s ability to enable both
tutors and pupils to interact by both voice and video
over IP make real-time communication an effective and
personable one.”
“We’re thrilled that e/pop is having such a great
take-up in the education sector,” explains WiredRed UK
Managing Director, Tom Sloan. “It shows the versatility
of the software in providing secure and reliable
real-time communication for everyone.”
